Hi! For my first post on this blog, I wanted to share something God taught me this year. I have seen Him move in MIGHTY ways this year and it is so cool! When 2020 first started, I struggled with learning how to live my faith out in the every-day moments. I thought I had to be overseas on a mission trip to serve Him, I didn’t really know what it meant to have a relationship with Jesus.

And then COVID hit, and I had to be in quarantine at home. I had to learn how to serve God from right where I was, and how to grow my relationship with Him when everything else was stripped away. Every day that I chose to be intentional about spending time with Him, I felt like He was teaching me so much! I was able to experience Jesus in a whole new way and actually get to know Him!

I was trying to find something to pass the time in quarantine, so I started baking for my family. And then God put it on my heart to share some with my community to spread some joy in a rough season! So I began to bake for friends, neighbors, people at my church, and the numbers just grew and grew! The response to something as simple as baking banana bread & other simple treats was way bigger than anything I could have imagined! Through that baking, God moved MOUNTAINS!! (This still blows my mind every time I think about it.) God wants to use me right here, right now! I was able to make new friendships, spread some smiles, and it even brought new opportunities to serve God! With each thing I baked & delivered, I wrote a kind note to the person receiving it. God spread so much joy through this & it brought a sense of community in a time where the world was so divided! This baking is now my main source of funding for this mission trip!

Something God really put on my heart at that time was that if He can do all of that through a loaf of bread, how much more can He do through you and me?

During this year I learned to see God in the little details of life, like a fresh loaf of banana bread, a little butterfly flying past my car, or the laughter of the little children I teach. He is here and He is moving. Our God is a personal God and He wants to know you!! My heart does a little happy dance whenever I think of that 🙂 And that is my “why.” My reason for this mission trip, and my reason for living out my faith each day. His love for me is the reason I can love others! His desire to know me, and the way He intentionally pursues my heart is what fuels my desire to go on this mission trip and share the gospel! I truly wish everyone could know the One that adores them & knows them so personally. I want my life to point back to the Creator of it all! My prayer is that we could all take a look around and see God in every little detail. And remember that He is faithfully pursuing YOU in every season, no matter what your circumstances look like!
